Starting this week, all users of the midwesttape.com website will see more options for expanding their library’s media collection. In addition to our full line of physical media products (DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K video and music and audiobooks on CD), you will now also be able to see the digital audiobooks and eBooks available on hoopla Flex. Offering our version of one-copy one-user functionality, hoopla Flex allows you to offer your patrons the newest and most popular audiobook and eBook titles alongside the hundreds of thousands of digital titles that are always available via hoopla Instant!

Midwest Tape to Migrate to New Software System

Midwest Tape is currently migrating to a new software system, which is similar to a library’s migration to a new ILS. This new system will allow us to provide you with better service and higher quality information.

As is the case with new library systems, most modifications take place behind the scenes. However, we do want to take this opportunity to notify you of some changes you’ll experience:

Website
Site users will notice that they have new account IDs, but we will also continue to display original account numbers. Orders will now have Cart IDs and Order IDs. Please note that all open orders will have “n/a” for their Order ID until they become an official order. Stock numbers will display new Product IDs. Note that you will still be able to search by our original stock numbers on our site.

Documentation
The changeover will produce a set of new documents, replacing the traditional documents you may have been receiving. We encourage you and members of your organization to familiarize yourselves with our new documents. These forms include:

• Debit and credit memos 
• Return authorizations 
• Invoices
• Packing slips

Over 18,000 Movie Trailers Available at MidwestTapes.com

You can now watch over 18,000 theatrical trailers directly from our website. Simply click the “watch trailer” icon within Search or SmartBrowse to view the trailer in a pop-up window.

Note that trailers require Adobe® Flash® for proper viewing. Click here to download the latest version of Flash.

New Features for MidwestTapes.com

At Midwest Tape, we take pride in our time-saving, user-friendly website. Recently, we made some improvements to www.midwesttapes.com. Below is a list of those changes followed by a detailed description of each.

April Website Updates

New Release Panel
We’ve redesigned the new release panel on our homepage, adding additional collections and giving it a cleaner, brighter look. You can now select which collections within each of our formats (including Blu-ray and Playaway) you would like to view.

Upon hovering over a title within the new release panel, a textbox displaying product details will appear.  If you mouse away from that title, the textbox will disappear. This feature also exists on our Calendar tool.

Calendar Function Enhancement
We’ve added a new tab along our top header labeled Calendar.

Upon clicking this new tab, you’ll be directed to our enhanced Calendar (also accessible via Quick Links). The new Calendar has dropdown menus that allow you to sort by media format and collection.

If you click the “Art View” option, the calendar will change from the list view display to an artwork display.

You will now be able to view the artwork for products in order of street date.

Blu-ray and Playaway Format Separation
Because our Playway and Blu-ray collections continue to grow, we have separated the two from the DVD and Audiobook formats.  You will now be able to view Playaway and Blu-ray titles via the new release and Quick Links panels on the homepage:

Additionally, when you search for titles via SmartBrowse, Blu-ray and Playaway results will show up separate from DVDs and Audiobooks:

Revised Help Tab
In order to make it more usable, we have redesigned the Help tab on the webpage. We’ve now reorganized items and made all links readily accessible:
